Canine Influenza H3N8 & H3N2

Canine influenza is the dog flu. Because of the recent outbreaks in the area we are now requiring our patients that board with us or that are groomed with us to be vaccinated for H3N8 & H3N2. To learn more about the dog flu and what it means for your dog, click here.

The vaccine schedule for H3N8 & H3N2 is the same for adult dogs and puppies. Your dog, or puppy, will receive the first vaccination and then be boostered again two to four weeks later. Once properly vaccinated your dog will need to be boostered once a year.

Please note, any current patient that is up-to-date on their Annual or Semi-Annual Wellness exams will NOT be required to be seen by a doctor to receive this vaccination.

We highly recommend this vaccination for any patients that visit the dog park, daycare, another boarding or grooming facility, or any dog that spends time with other dogs.

Please visit the AVMA's website where they have a FAQ page available.
