Periodontal disease affects over 70% of pets over three years of age. Periodontitis is a severe infection of the gums and can eventually lead to damage of the jaw. Untreated, periodontal disease can lead to extreme pain and eventual tooth loss. In addition, bacteria in the mouth can travel to the heart, lungs, and liver and cause additional damage to the organs.
