Our Team
At the heart of our compassionate, high-quality care at Lifetime Pet Center of New Richmond is our dedicated team of veterinary professionals. Come meet us by reading our bios below.
Meet Our Veterinarians & Staff
Our team combines years of hands-on experience, advanced training, and genuine love for animals to create a welcoming and trustworthy environment for every patient. We’re proud to serve pet owners in New Richmond, Greater Cincinnati, Amelia, Bethel, Felicity, and surrounding communities with professionalism, warmth, and integrity.
Dr. Jerry Miller
Lead Veterinarian and Practice Owner
Dr. Miller is the owner of our New Richmond hospital, having sold the Williamsburg location in 2021 to focus exclusively on the New Richmond practice. A Cincinnati native, Dr. Miller graduated from The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1974. After three years in a mixed animal practice in Carrollton, Ohio, he opened Williamsburg Animal Hospital in 1977.
Dr. Miller and his wife, Susan — also an Ohio State graduate — live in Pierce Township, Clermont County, with their dogs, Cicely and Sophie (both English Bernadoodles!). They enjoy spending their free time in Waynesville, North Carolina, taking in the picturesque mountainscapes, with their dogs, sons, daughters-in-law, and grandkids.
A committed professional, Dr. Miller is an active member of the Cincinnati Veterinary Medical Association, the Ohio Veterinary Medical Association, and the American Veterinary Medical Association. Over the years, he has contributed to various community associations and events.
Sarah M.
Practice Manager and Veterinary Cannabis Counselor
Sarah has been with Lifetime Pet Center since 2003, starting as a patient care technician while in high school. After attending college in Northern California, she returned to Cincinnati and resumed her place in the practice as a veterinary assistant, eventually taking over as practice manager for both hospital locations in 2013.
During her time in veterinary medicine, she has achieved several certifications, including her CFVP (Cat Friendly Veterinary Professional) and VCC (Veterinary Cannabis Counselor) licenses, among many others. Outside of management duties, Sarah is particularly interested in animal behavior and works with many patients in practice who need extra special attention and care.
She spends most of her time outside of work with her fiancé and two dogs, Magda (a Chiweenie) and Carmen (an Australian Shepherd/Staffordshire Terrier mix), having various adventures.
Katie C.
Lead Veterinary Assistant & Groomer
Katie started with Lifetime in 2013 after leaving her career in childcare. She graduated from Bethel-Tate High School and has her CFVP (Cat Friend Veterinary Professional) certification, as well as numerous others in anesthesia monitoring, dentistry, and behavior. She shares her home with three dogs (a husky, a pittie, and a pug) and a clowder of cats.
Katie enjoys spending her time outside of work painting, fostering and rehabilitating pets in need, reading, and hanging out with family and friends on game day. (Who Dey!)
Jan
Customer Service Representative & Patient Care Technician
Jan started working for Dr. Miller in 1998 at his practice in Williamsburg before eventually becoming the general practice manager for both Williamsburg and New Richmond in 2000. She served as practice manager until 2013, semi-retiring, and staying with the practice as a highly experienced veterinary assistant and customer service representative with the New Richmond hospital.
Prior to working in the veterinary field, she was a paramedic for the Union Township Fire Department. Jan spends her time outside of work with her dog, Lola, and four cats- enjoying lots of reading and crossword puzzles. She also shares her home with her beloved grandson and future granddaughter-in-law.
Sammie
AVA (Approved Veterinary Assistant)
Sammie started with Lifetime in 2020 at our Williamsburg hospital and then joined the team at New Richmond after the practice was sold later that year. She earned her NAVTA AVA certification after attending the veterinary science program at Grant Career Center. She initially joined us as an intern and was later hired full-time after graduation.
While working for us, Sammie also attended the Cincinnati School of Massage and became a licensed massage therapist in 2025, with dreams of pursuing a special certification for pets as well. She enjoys reading and competing in demolition derby events (yes, we know those two hobbies are quite different from each other!), as well as spending time with her four cats and dog.
Alex
Patient Care Technician
Alex joined our team in early 2023, having previously worked at Tailwaggers Doggy Day Care, where he gained extensive knowledge of canine behavior and training techniques, as well as husbandry skills. He wanted to be more directly involved in the veterinary field as he pursued his degree in biology, one day hoping to attend vet school, so the owner of Tailwaggers shipped him over to us!
Alex currently holds an associate’s degree in biology and is working on his bachelor’s while also finding time to relax with his two dogs and ball python. He also enjoys running, reading, painting, completing LEGO sets & puzzles, playing video games, and learning new things whenever he gets the chance.
Paris
AVA (Approved Veterinary Assistant)
Paris first started with us as an intern from the veterinary science program at Grant Career Center in 2023, from which she eventually earned her NAVTA AVA (Approved Veterinary Assistant) certification. She is also CPR certified and has a special interest in parasites, completing most of her annual CE on the topic.
Paris shares her home with four dogs, nine cats, and lots of pocket pets and reptiles. She enjoys building Lego sets, taking naps, and spending time with her pets.
Carly
AVA (Approved Veterinary Assistant)
Carly joined our team in 2024 as an intern from the veterinary science program in Grant Career Center (like many of our other employees!). She earned her NAVTA AVA (Approved Veterinary Assistant) certification prior to graduation. She is currently attending the University of Cincinnati and hopes to become a veterinarian, just like her older sister.
Carly resides with four dogs, a cat, and a guinea pig, and enjoys reading and playing video games in her spare time. (She is also a huge Star Wars nerd and will never actually admit it- ask her about it the next time you see her in the hospital!)
Our House Cats
Dawny
Dawny is our longest and oldest resident, arriving at our hospital in 2011 from a severe hoarding situation with her brother, Frank, who sadly passed away in 2023. She is estimated to be 22 years old! Her favorite foods are what you happen to be eating at the time. You will often see her in the lobby waiting for snacks or for her dinner to be ready (we keep telling her dinner is at 4PM but that doesn’t stop her from trying!).
Bob Katz
Bob was brought to us in 2013 by a client that found him in front of the New Richmond post office, having just been hit by a car. He suffered a few minor injuries as well as a broken jaw that required immediate surgery. Bob healed wonderfully and has been with us ever since. He is our friendliest resident that typically spends the day in the lobby, basking in the sun, and waiting for his favorite folks to stop by for pets (because he knows the only reason anyone comes in is to see him!). He is 14 years old.
Oscar
Oscar, possibly our strangest kitty, was surrendered to us in 2017 after suffering an Achilles tendon tear while outdoors. His favorite activity is following around every staff member, especially Sarah, begging for treats (dog treats, to be specific- he hates the tiny cat ones). His second favorite activity is sneaking into the office when the door is open to sit in front of Sarah’s computer while she is trying to work. He hates to be picked up so it is truly a feat getting him to leave. This occurs several times a day, every day. Oscar is 11 years old and shows no sign of slowing down!
