February: Pet Dental Health Month

February is National Pet Dental Health Month and there are many ways to participate for the benefit of your pet!

When was the last time you brushed your teeth? Ok, now think of the last time you brushed your pet’s teeth. It is more than likely you do not know the answer to the second part; because of this most cats and dogs will have periodontal disease by the time they are 3 years old.

Did you know?: Periodontal disease is the most common clinical condition occurring in dogs and cats that is entirely preventable.  Left untreated in most pets, periodontal disease contributes to other health issues throughout a pet’s life, like organ damage, especially in older patients. Periodontal disease that is left untreated will actually shorten that pet’s life by two years or more.

So, how can you protect your pet from such a nasty disease? Simple: come see us for a visit. During a routine wellness exam our doctors can grade your pet’s dental disease and recommend a course of treatment ranging from a full dental cleaning under anesthesia, to home care, and more.

During the month of February we will be offering a 15% discount on all dental procedures and products that are recommended by the doctor! And, if you mention this blog post you can receive that same discount this month!
